How I work
During my time in the mental health field, I have learned so much about the power and impact that healthy communication can have, with others but especially with ourselves. Several times in my life, I have sought out counseling myself; not every experience was great or a right fit for me, but when it is, it is extremely helpful and transformative. I want every client I see to feel like the relationship they have with each other is one of mutual respect and one where they feel they can be open and honest about things. I work with clients using a variety of methods such as: relational and somatic processing, person-centered therapy as well as incorporating mindfulness, acceptance and self-compassion into the different areas of work we will do. I work with clients on understanding how they communicate best and developing ways for them to communicate to others in a way that benefits the relationship instead of hurting it. Helping clients recognize and acknowledge their emotions in a healthy way is also a big part of the work I do, so that clients feel able to control and manage their emotions versus moving into avoidance and denial. I feel passionate about clients developing a healthy relationship with themselves that is full of kindness, empathy and compassion and working together to figure out what self-care looks like for you and how to fit it into your life.
